Scope and Content of the Series

From the Series:

Contains two subseries:

  • A: Agreements and negotiations, is divided into 2 sub-subseries:
    • 1: Agreements.
    • 2: Negotiations.
  • B: Labor disputes, divided into 3 sub-subseries:
    • 1: Grievances, includes grievance forms which describe both the grievance brought by the employee, as well as the relief sought. In many of the files, the final disposition decided upon by the employer is provided. Some of the forms have supporting paperwork. Also included in these files are handwritten grievances, not presented on official grievance forms.
    • 2: Arbitration, consists of cases that were not resolved at the grievance stage, and required mediation by a third party.
    • 3: Litigation, covers the cases that resulted in legal proceedings. There are some interesting court cases covered, most involving fair employment practices, and in particular, sexual and racial discrimination. The files relating to the Meyers v. Gilman Paper Corp. case are particularly rich.
