Scope and Content of the Series
In June 1960 Mike H. Ross delivered a presentation to the National Conference on Medicine and the Federal Coal Mine, Health, and Safety Act in Washington, D.C. His presentation was "The Lifestyle of the Coal Miner." Ross began doing more research in this area due to his involvement with the United Mine Workers of America, the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers Union, the Fairmont Clinic, the Rural Practice Program
