Miscellaneous loose newspaper clippings from scrapbook, 1939-1940
Scope and Content of the Records
The records of United Truck Drivers, Helpers, and Warehousemen, Local Industrial Union 936 (Roanoke, Va.) consist of a carbon copy of the Article of Agreement between Local Industrial Union 936 and Red Line Trucking, and a scrapbook assembled by Roy E. Caudill, vice president of L.I.U. 936. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings regarding the Teamsters' action against Red Line in September 1939 and another dispute in August 1940, blank CIO membership cards, receipts from membership cards indicating members and dues paid; and a letter from James Mark, Jr. (CIO state representative) regarding the contract between Local 936 and Red Line Trucking. Lose items removed from the scrapbook consist of a brief handwritten note from E.H. Deacon, General Manager of Red Line, Inc., and clippings.
