Scope and Content of the Series
Series I includes files pertaining to AFL President William Green; AFL Secretary-Treasurer George Meany; Southern Director George Googe; James L. McDevitt of the AFL's Labor's League for Political Education; and AFL organizers D. G. Garland and A. E. Brown. Series I also contains files related to the state AFL federations of Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina; to the Labor League for Human Rights; to the Florida Labor Educational and Protective Committee; to the AFL's Southern Labor News Bureau; and to the central labor councils of Asheville (North Carolina) and Greenville (South Carolina). Additionally, Series 1 contains Barrett's weekly activity reports and some expense reports from the years 1937, 1939, and 1944-1949.
