Scope and Content of the Papers

The bulk of the items in this collection are memorabilia from Judy Moody's time as a student at Grady including her diploma from January 1945. Other items include photographs, a commemorative history of Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing from 1898-1962, and three nursing pins. Of particular interest are her blue and red nursing cape and three white nursing caps.

Biography of Jewel Dean Moody

Jewel (Judy) Dean Moody, originally of Lake Alfred, Florida, was born in 1922. She graduated from Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing on January 26, 1945, and later married W.T. Sceals of Waycross, Georgia. She died in 2001.

Jewel (Judy) Dean Moody, originally of Lake Alfred, Florida, attended Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated on January 26, 1945. The bulk of this collection is memorabilia from her time at school including her diploma, a class photograph, her nursing cape, and nursing caps.

Provenance

W. T. Sceals agreed to donate his late wife's papers to the Women's Collection at Georgia State University. Following his death in July 2002, his sister, Virginia Sceals Warnock of Waycross, Georgia, served as executrix of his estate.
