Historical Note about the Textile Workers Union of America

Founded as a Congress of Industrial Organizations Affiliate in 1939, the Textile Workers Union of America (TWUA) merged with the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America in 1976 to form the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union.

Subsequent mergers led to the union UNITE HERE. See the UNITE HERE Website for more information.
