Historical Note about the Retail Clerks International Union

Originally formed in 1890 under the auspices of the American Federation of Labor, the Retail Clerks International Union represented retail employees.

It merged with the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America in 1979 to form the United Food and Commercial Workers. See the UFCW Website for more information.
