Scope and Content of the Records
The collection consists of the records of Local 8 (Atlanta, Ga.) of the Bricklayers, Masons, and Plasterers International Union from 1950-1971. Includes eight minute books of weekly meetings of Local 8, discussing committee reports, inter-union disputes, amendments, resolutions, elections, and membership information (1950-1967). The collection also contains quarterly audit reports (1950-1955), constitutions, labor agreements, and working rules.

Historical Note
The Bricklayers, Masons, and Plasterers International Union of America organized in 1865 as the National Union of Bricklayers. Its name changed in 1883 to the Bricklayers’ and Masons’ International Union of America. It adopted its present name in 1910.

Eight minute books, 1950-1967, recount the weekly meetings of Atlanta's Local 8 of the Bricklayers and Masons Union.
