Scope and Contents of the Records

Correspondence, minutes, planning notes, event materials, financial documents, legal documents, photographs, and event souvenirs from 1990-2014 make up the records of Joining Hearts, Inc. The records are organized in two separate series of the working papers of Jason Hall and Thomas J. Brendiar. Each of their papers are broken down into three subseries; manuscripts, audiovisual and then artifacts and textiles.

Manuscripts includes records related to the planning and implementation of fundraising events, bylaws and founding documents of the organization, and correspondence. Audio Visual, includes photographs, photo CDs and Microsoft Publisher files data disk. Artifacts and textiles include event souvenirs’, event t-shirts and awards.

History of Joining Hearts, Inc.

Joining Hearts, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3), all volunteer, non-profit organization that has provided housing support to people living with HIV and AIDS in Atlanta since 1987. The group first worked with AID Atlanta to help raise funds enabling people with AIDS to remain in their homes. Since then, Joining Hearts, Inc. annually holds large fundraising events, with 100% of every dollar raised donated to the beneficiaries. The two main beneficiaries of the organization are AID Atlanta and Jerusalem House.

Joining Hearts was started in 1988 as a group of concerned individuals who had a desire to make a difference in the fight against AIDS.
