American Philosophical Association -- newsletters, 2002-2003
Scope and Contents of the Subseries
This subseries includes records documenting Bell's leadership roles on task forces and committees of various Philosophy and Women's Studies organizations. It contains correspondence, newsletters, membership directories, projects, programs and reports. Notable in this subseries is the documentation of Bell's chairmanship of the American Association of University Professors' Committee W: Women and Minorities; membership on the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy's Committee on the Status on Women; and chairmanship of the Women's Studies Group of the University Center of Georgia. Various other philosophical organizations that she played an active role in are represented here, notably the Sartre Society of North America and the American Philosophical Association. Bell's involvement with social-political groups at the local, national and international level is also documented within this subseries, especially her work with the Georgia Commission on Family Values and the Initiative on Sexual and Intimate Violence.
This subseries primarily documents Bell's service to associations outside Georgia State University. For committee and task force records within Georgia State, see Series II, Subseries B.
