Annual meeting (program and booklet of reports), 1978
Scope and Content of the Subseries
Correspondence, minutes and agendas, printed material, writings, and legal-style documents, 1975-2000, document Mary Long's involvement with her state's nursing association. Much of the material dates from her service as GNA President (1981-1985) and contains documentation of her many presentations and speaking engagements as president, as well as of initiatives such as the Impaired Nurses Program, which assisted nurses with substance-abuse problems. Files contain routine internal and American Nurses Association correspondence and paperwork, as well as materials documenting GNA's engagement with health care and gender equality issues of the day. Long's work as a lobbyist and educator on legislative affairs is amply documented in the series, including her terms as chair of GNA's Governmental Affairs Commission and of its political action committee (GNA-PAC), and her presentations at GNA's legislative workshops.
