Scope and Contents
Interviewed by Marian Liou. In this interview, David Yu talks about his and his family's experiences immigrating to the United States. He discusses his long career in banking and other financial services, as well as his involvement in various facets of the Chinese and broader international community in Atlanta. Yu describes the changes he has observed on the Buford Highway during his time in Atlanta and compares the predominantly Chinese area of Atlanta to Chinatowns in other cities. Yu ends the interview by describing his experience running with the Olympic torch in 1996.

Biographical Note
David Yu was born in Taiwan in 1951. He moved to Atlanta in 1974 to pursue an MBA at Georgia State University. He began his career in banking in the 1980s and helped organize the Summit National Bank, which provided loans primarily to immigrant-owned businesses. Yu is an avid runner and ran with the Olympic torch in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics. He is currently retired.
